The Power Press Regulations 1998 and its Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (Part IV of PUWER 98)
The requirement in the 1965 Regulations to train persons who “prepare presses for use” in accordance with a training schedule is retained by Part IV of PUWER ’98. In the H.S.E. Guidance attached to Part IV it points out that because of Regulation 9(2) you are legally required to provide adequate training for those that manage or supervise the use of power presses as you do for those that prepare them for use and inspect and test guards and protection devices.
There is also a training requirement for those that repair, modify, maintain or service power presses and press brakes.
